Jan Możdżyński

Jan Możdżyński lives and works in Warsaw, where in 2018 he graduated from the Faculty of Paining at the Academy of Fine Arts. In the media of painting and sculpture, he raises important and personal topics focused on feminism, gender identity, sexual minorities and stigma related to sexual preferences.

The body is very important to Jan’s work, as its protagonists are often queer and mixed-gender hybrids. Queer identities are present in the bodily representations, as well as in the fetish and BDSM motifs depicted on the canvases. In his work, Jan tries to capture situations related to role playing, to disintegrate what is traditionally understood as masculine and feminine.

Jan’s practice also explores the permeation of the virtual worlds and computer games into the real world, and recently he has been looking into the eroticism of musical instruments and trying to make his own guitars. Jan also practices boxing, and runs free boxing classes for friends and strangers.
